Ms Tam’s Journey with Sunrise Aged Care
The Difference Timely and Compassionate Care Can Make
As we grow older, good health is important - but so too are companionship, support, and the reassurance of knowing help is there when needed. For Ms Tam, a valued client of Sunrise Aged Care, receiving the right care at the right time has made a meaningful difference to her quality of life.
Ms Tam lives with her husband, and like many older couples, both face ongoing health challenges. Before joining Sunrise Aged Care, she had been receiving services from another provider. Unfortunately, the experience left her feeling disappointed, unsupported, and emotionally drained.
Reflecting on that difficult period, Ms Tam shared:
“After I had surgery on my leg, I was still in a lot of pain and very weak. The previous provider didn't seem to pay much attention to my needs. Sometimes it would take up to three months before a nurse visited. Everything was delayed, including physiotherapy support. It was a very upsetting time for me, and there were moments when I cried.”
During this challenging chapter, the encouragement of her husband and support from her family helped her begin looking for a better care solution. Determined to find a provider that truly understood their needs, her husband reached out to their children for recommendations.
A New Beginning with Sunrise Aged Care
Fortunately, the family discovered Sunrise Aged Care, an organisation dedicated to helping older Australians live confidently, maintain their independence, and enjoy a fulfilling quality of life while providing peace of mind for their loved ones.
At the heart of Sunrise Aged Care's approach is a commitment to building genuine, long-term relationships with clients—ensuring each person receives personalised support that enhances both wellbeing and everyday living.
As soon as Ms Tam's daughter-in-law contacted Sunrise Aged Care, the team responded promptly. The transition process was handled efficiently, and Ms Tam's care needs were assessed and addressed without delay.
“I felt an enormous sense of relief,” Ms Tam recalled.
“Everything was organised quickly, and I no longer had to worry or wait for long periods like before. I felt much more comfortable and confident in my daily life.”
More Than Care: Building Community and Connection
Beyond health and personal support services, Sunrise Aged Care is committed to helping older people stay socially connected and engaged through a variety of community activities and events. These include day trips, outings, cultural gatherings, and social programs designed to foster friendship and enjoyment.
Ms Tam is particularly excited about an upcoming event.
“I'm really looking forward to the Sunrise Echoes Music Night featuring singer Nguyen Hung on 23 May. It's such a meaningful program that brings joy and connection to older people like us.”
She also spoke enthusiastically about previous community activities organised by Sunrise Aged Care, including autumn sightseeing trips, persimmon picking excursions, and camping experiences enjoyed by many fellow members.
Although ongoing leg pain has prevented her from participating so far, Ms Tam remains determined to continue her recovery so she can join future outings.
“I hope that once my leg becomes stronger, I'll be able to participate in more activities with everyone. I'm really looking forward to those experiences.”
Supporting Older Australians to Live Well
Ms Tam's story is about more than changing care providers. It highlights the profound impact that timely, responsive, and compassionate support can have on the lives of older people.
This is the commitment that Sunrise Aged Care strives to deliver every day: listening with care, responding with understanding, and helping each client enjoy a safer, happier, and more fulfilling life.
For Ms Tam, that support has brought something invaluable - peace of mind, renewed confidence, and the opportunity to look forward to the future once again.
